This giant ground sloth (Megalonyx jeffersonii) left metacarpal V was sent to Thomas Jefferson in the late 1700s from a cave in what is now West Virginia. It was 3-D scanned with a NextEngine Desktop 3-D scanner on March 11, 2020 at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. Repository specimen number 12507.
