More model informationThis wonderful menhir can be found on the western side of Le Mans cathedral. It is about 3.7m high. It is known as the Pierre St Julien (St Julian’s Stone) and was moved to its present site in 1778 after the dolmen it was part of collapsed. Its official name is “Menhir dit Pierre St Julien”.
The undulating shapes of this metamorphic stone must have been one of the reasons the stone was selected for its original purpose, althought some sources suggest that the ‘folds’ were formed by weathering.
This is a quick Polycam capture.
