The butterflies on this mirror are distributed in three tiers away from the handle. In the outer band are butterflies divided into thirteen parts; the butterflies just inside that border line are spread out ten parts; the innermost area is spread out five parts (the paired sparrows occupy one of these parts). The motifs of butterflies and sparrows are thought to have been formed using a stick-shaped or spatula-shaped tool with a rounded tip.
