This is a 3D static model of a California Sea Lion (“Ariel”, Zalophus californianus) which was recreated from a female adult Sea lion at the Moss Landing Marine Labs SLEWTHS program (https://mlml.sjsu.edu/slewths/). This female is 188 cm long and has a mass of 84 kg (May 2022). Our team used 3D digital photogrammetry with gopro cameras to recreate this animal swimming naturally in a pool in the facility. CG artist Johnson Martin recreated the sea lion from the 3D scan. We thank Stefani Skrovan and Jenifer Zeligs for facilitating the work. Frank Fish also provided funding and guidance in the research and recreation.
