This model is a recreation of a terracotta votive based on a Cypriot figurine of the Kamelarga style (https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/female-musician-79d7bd99ab5b413b86aab953cd560d0c) preserved at the Ure Museum.
The creation of this 3D model was part of the project “Cyprus in 3D”, which explored the importance of 3D models and 3D printed replicas in educational activities. Since many figurines were interpreted as tambourine players, we decided to delve into the role of music in Archaic Cypriot iconography.
Although many Cypriot terracotta votives represent musicians playing different types of aulos, unfortunately, the Ure Museum does not preserve any specimen showing this iconography. Thus, we decided to create our brand-new figurines.
Cypriot material culture displays various types of pipes, so we 3D modelled two options by using Autodesk Meshmixer.
