Bromodomain-containing protein 4, or BRD4 for short, belongs to the BET family and serves a multitude of purposes, with implications of more to be uncovered. The primary function of the human protein is the recognition of aceltylated lysine residues, which it does through its bromodomain shown in yellow, made up of two alpha helices. An additional two helices are shown in red, and the linking loops between them are shown in green.

The mechanism through which the proteins binds to histones H3 and H4, and other histone like elements will be shown in the presentation.
