I created this creature with the idea of imperfect shape-shifting/mimicry in mind. The creature is built to resemble the “human” form that a shapeshifter might take if they didn’t quite understand the relationship between human form and function. The creature has a mask built to resemble a face, but this mask is not connected to the head appendage. The creature has legs, but because there wasn’t a connection between the function of movement and the form of legs, the legs are useless little dangling nubs. The arms are similarly misshapen and the creature uses them to move around by swinging from the ceiling. This creature was also built around the idea of predator-prey deception. Similar to how peacocks have large feathers to trick predators and venus fly traps has a deceptive mouth to trick prey, this creature has a false face/mask (the real face is at the base of the creature between its legs) to deceive prey. Predators are also fooled into thinking the creatures mouth is much larger than it actually is.
