More model informationLocated at James Madison’s Montpelier in Orange, VA this foundation was excavated in the early 1990s and in 2016. When reconstructed the building will be interpreted as a kitchen occupied and used by James Madison’s mother’s enslaved cooks. This model is a higher quality view of the foundation’s south half. See the annotations for more information about our archaeological interpretations of the structure.
