More model informationLarge, mature Mosasaur tooth showing replacement with a new but unerupted tooth. This is an example of polyphyodonty, a common form of tooth replacement across vertebrates.
Mosasaurs were large marine reptiles of the late Cretaceous. This specimen is from Morocco. The specimen is original, although it has been mounted in a reconstructed matrix.
Special thanks to Edmund Goebel (undergradute student) for allowing us to digitise his specimen.
