Competitions in contemporary folk stone sculpture in the Galician Town: Folk stone sculpture, with its beautiful and ages-old tradition in Polish folk art, has become a very rare field of visual art in the last few decades. For this reason, the Nowy Sącz District Museum has recently begun organising competitions devoted to it. Their aim is to review the current state of this field of folk art in the Carpathian and Subcarpathian regions, maintain the disappearing stonework tradition, while also obtaining valuable competition works for the museum collection. Currently, the collection comprises over 60 sculptures, some of which are presented at the permanent exhibition in the Galician Town.
