Naval Battle of Nashville3D Model
Kelley’s Point Batteries - On this site, the evening of December 2, 1864, the Confederate Army of Tennessee initiated a two-week siege of Nashville. This was to be the last significant offensive military operation of the Civil War by the South. It was also one of the most significant battles between the Confederate cavalry and the U.S. Navy. The lower battery is confirmed, the upper battery is approximate due to development. NOTE: the river level is much higher today, as represented in this model, due to Cheatam Dam downstream. The ship models are the USS Neosho and Carondelet iron clads. 5 of the ships were actually “Tin Clads”, but have not been modeled in 3D for lack of information. There was only one Carondelet Class ship in the battles here.
Battery locations are only a best guess. Accounts vary, and they were moved several times.
