Newcastle Church Window (DU020-003002-)3D ModelNoAI
Twin-light cusped ogee-headed southern window of the chancel of St. Finian’s medieval parish church (DU020-003002-) which stands at the western end of Newcastle village, Co. Dublin. The nave and chancel church stands in the northern side of a graveyard (DU020-003010-) which contains a possible standing stone, granite cross (DU020-003003-) and a castle (DU020-003004-) standing in the south-east corner. The twin-light window has sunken or concave spandrels with chamfered dividing mullion and chamfered jambstones and window sill. The jambs and central mulllion have a window glazing-groove along with iron bar holes. This twin-light window dates from the 15th-century and appears to have been inserted into an earlier window embrasure. The rear-arch of the window embrasure is pointed and there was a gap between the top of the window and the head of the window embrasure which has been infilled with inserted stone.
