Nicea Lefke Gate3D ModelNoAI
Lefke Gate: Located at the eastern end of the city, the gate is very similar to the Istanbul Gate. It is highly probable that they were built on the same dates, but a precise date cannot be determined for both doors. While it was probably inside the courtyard before, the courtyard was closed with the structures added during the Byzantine Period and the corridor we see today became the road. At the entrance to the city from the outside, there is a rectangular door with a wooden top molding formed by thick marble columns between two cylindrical towers. The arch on the door is knitted inside. There is also a frieze on the left side of the door giving the appearance of a spolia, high relief. The human figures on it are shown very cramped. There is an inscription on the middle door arch inside and outside.
