Nymph with Conch3D Model
The fountain-statue represents a Nymph with a draped cloth around her hips and a shell touching her belly. It was originally set in a niche in the wall of the frigidarium, part of the Roman Baths, and was found in fragments at the bottom of one of the pools. This statue can be dated to the first century CE or, at the latest the beginning of the following century, and has been inspired by the iconography of the Venus Anadyomene or Pudica, adapted in Roman times into a multiplicity of variations to decorate fountains and pools.
