Boulder on Bewick Hill, approx. 3 miles NNE of Powburn, Northumberland.
Found within a green wall to the E of the hillfort. This stone is referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Old Bewick 3G’ and was added to ERA by NADRAP Team 3 in 2008. Both projects recorded similar motifs with the BA originally recording:
“Like a small standing stone in the wall, this has two C-shaped arcs facing inward on the top surface and a D-shaped groove lower down.”
Similar ‘C’ or ‘horseshoe’ motifs are recorded in the Broomridge area, 11.5 miles NNW.
