More model informationThis is the oldest legible grave in the churchyard of St Lawrence’s Church, Steppingley, Bedfordshire. It belongs to Robert Furze (c1808 - 1867) - a farmer of 400 acres, who employed 14 men and 13 boys, according to the 1861 census. Furze was born in Tollington, London, but it’s unclear how long he had lived in Steppingley. His children all seem to have been born in Bedfordshire, however. His daughter, Jennie Marian Furze, is also buried in this plot. She died aged 20, in 1876.
