More model informationRoman oil lamp with inscription wedding invitation. Roughly shaped lamp made of gray-brown clay. In the lamp mirror an inscription surrounding the filling hole: Eccipe patr(o) ne nub(e) - “Accept (this as a gift), patron, and marry!” The lamp had thus been given by one or more freed persons to their patronus (= former lord). As a necessary bedroom prop, it was a gift for a wedding man. Caramic; l 10,1 cm; h 4,6 cm; 3rd century AD.
