South of the port of Rotterdam lies a lake which used to be the river outlet of the Brielse Maas. This was the main shipping lane to the port of Rotterdam from the 13th until the 18th century. In 2014, the Dutch Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE), conducted an archaeological assessment of the OVM 14. The location has been disturbed by sand extraction in the 1960’s (removal of the stern and stem). Later a sportdiver has illegally excavated the whole wreck. The researchers found the remain of an English seagoing vessel from the middle of the 17th century which (probably) transported coals. This was the first trial with 3D fotogrammetry which explains the poor coverage of the wreck and hence the minimal presentation of the 3D model. The data has been processed by Thomas Van Damme (@Ubi3D).
