Why is Rock Imagery Important? This rock art site is one of the most iconic in Nine Mile Canyon. The presence of these images may reflect systems of religious attitudes, beliefs and practices. Different modern cultures (Hopi, Ute, Dine, and others) have their own interpretations and relationships to this imagery. Studying rock imagery could reveal important insights into prehistoric societies, including how they related to their environments over time.
