More model informationThis Early Period polychrome bowl is from the Gran Nicoya region of Costa Rica and dates to 500-800 AD. The painted designs show images of serpents, circles, dots and other geometric shapes. This type has strong stylistic affinities (symbolism) with a Maya pottery group from Honduras (Ulua polychrome). This partially restored vessel was donated to the University of Kansas in 1981 by Constance and Pierre Stouse.
