Angular rock with probable prehistoric carvings, sitting on Pancake Ridge, Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire, England.
This stone is referenced ‘IAG 297’ in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, where they describe 5 possible cups. The CSI: Rombalds Moor Project recorded the stone ‘Pancake Ridge 02’ on ERA in 2013 noting:
‘One irregular deep cup at N tip, cut through by a fissure/crack, which has been affected by weathering and could be natural but is probably carved. There is a further deep cup at E, one deep cup at W, one deep cup at centre. Along the edge of the rock at WSW is an irregular natural depression and a shallow irregular depression thought to be natural.’
