Block XI depicts two young riders fully galloping to the viewer’s left. The first horseman is clad in a short chiton under his cuirass, embades and Attic-type helmet with high crest that flows out behind. He is one of the few riders on the frieze whose other leg is depicted hanging down behind the horse’s body. The other horseman, also in a short chiton but without a helmet, holds firmly the rein of his horse, slightly bending his head. The horses’ bridles and reins were once rendered in bronze.
