Pavona venosa (NHMW-Zoo3-EV12762)3D Model
3D scan of the calcium carbonate skeleton of a stony coral (Pavona venosa). Pavona venosa can be found across the tropical Indo-Pacific ocean, down to depths of 25 meters. IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) attributes this species a conservation status of Vulnerable.
This specimen, part of a donation by Huber, was scanned as part of a pilot study to identify new morphological traits for species delimitation, and it is not on display in the showrooms of the NHM Vienna.
