The Pre-Explosion Revival of Expanding Shockwaves (PERES) model illustrates the various layers of the star. Different colors correspond to distinct elements within the star. At the core of the star lies the iron core. Inside it, the standing accretion shock is depicted as a cyan semi-translucent spherical surface. In the star’s center, you can observe the proto-neutron star (PNS). Outward-pointing arrows represent the emission of neutrinos. The “boiling water” texture symbolizes the convection of matter behind the shock caused by neutrinos. This model accurately portrays the different regions of the star to scale.
