This model represents the PFM 1 Butterfly mine, a lightweight Soviet designed scatterable anti personnel landmine featuring aerodynamic wings for glide deployment. Once dropped from mortars, helicopters, or aircraft, it drifts to the ground and arms via an internal spring loaded plunger. Under just 5 kilograms of pressure, its low metal casing detonates a 37 gram liquid explosive charge, typically causing disabling rather than lethal injuries.
There are two variants. The PFM 1S includes a self destruct mechanism with a delay of 1 to 40 hours, while the basic PFM 1 lacks this feature. The mine’s design, size, and characteristics are based on documented imagery and open source technical references. This model is intended for visualization, educational, or research use. It is not a precise replica.
