The calderaskimmer is a large aerial predator that thrives in Phtanum’s lower atmosphere, preying on smaller flyers it encounters. This deuvertebrate belongs to a group known as ramjet dragons. Rather than propelling themselves by flapping their wings, these animals inhale, compress, and expel the thick goopy air to dart through the skies.
This animal group owes the second part of their name to the glands on their underside. When hunting, these animals squirt out a substance called burnfluid, which ignites upon contact with the air. Many ramjet dragons, including calderaskimmers, use these to wound or kill their prey in aerial dogfights.
