Trench 4 was located in the central part of the hillfort (Pidkamin XI), which is placed on the eastern outskirts of Pidkamin village. The trench represents a cross-section of the southern part of a buried house. The building was up to 1 m deep, 4 m wide and approximately 6 m long. Perhaps it was a house where the inhabitants of the settlement lived or an household building. We found only 5 fragments of ceramics from the 10th and 11th centuries in the filling of the house. Eventually, we learned that this building, like the settlement, was abandoned, which is why the settlement gradually fell into collapse.
The research was organized in 2021 to explore the stratigraphic layers and establish the function and chronology of the site’s occupation.
