The pioneer axe (dolabra) consists of a flat, triangular, axe-shaped blade at the front, with a cutting edge slanting obliquely to the direction of the shaft, and at the back, a short, slightly widening, blunt hacking part. The oval shaft socket is equipped with small, rectangular shaft socket flaps.
