More model informationDeath Valley National Park has an array of geologic features. Among the less known are numerious fossil trackways (ichnotraces) including this slab of sandstone with camelid and equis tracks. These tracks were created about 3 million years ago along what is thought to be an ephemerial lake that was a water source for these mammals. Burial turned these to stone and the uplift of the Sierras tilted and exhumed the fossils.
