More model informationA cope is a semi-circular garment worn in procession. The shield shaped piece on the back is a non-functional stylised hood. It is fastened by a fabric or metal bar known as a morse. This cope is a fine example inspired by the designs of A W Pugin around 1840. The main fabric is silk with the sacred monogram IHS woven into it. The orphrey is a braid woven to match. The embroidery on the hood is silk and echoes the main design. Violet vestments are used during Lent and Advent. This object belongs to the Scottish Catholic Heritage Collections Trust, T8024BLRBM
