Purcell Headstone Ballycahill (TN040-015002)3D Model
19th-century headstone in Ballycahill graveyard, Co. Tipperary, dedicated to Philip Purcell and his wife Bridget Condon. The faint carvings consist of an altar with Lamb of God, motto Ecce Agnes Dei, 2 winged soul effigies visible below whichare is flanked on either side by an encircled 6-petal cross/6-armed cross pattee. Faint traces of a monstrance with Christogram on left side with possible chalice on right side. Beneath there is a running lozenge motif, Sacred beneath which is framed by delicately carved floral motif. The corner of the panel has a quarter sunburst motif. The western side of the headstone is higly decorated with a central crucifixion scene flanked on either side by decorated chalices with fluting and the signature of the stonecutter T. Walsh Cashel. Above the cross there are trumpeting angels accompanied by winged soul effigies. Above this there is an epitaph or mortality warning to the reader. On top there is a Christogram in sunburst flanked by monstrances containing the sacred heart.
