Qin Banliang was the currency issued after the unification of Qin. Before Qin unified the six countries, the shapes of the coins of different countries were different, such as shovel coins, knife coins, ring coins, etc., and they could only be circulated within the scope of their respective jurisdiction. After the unification of the six States, the first Emperor of Qin decided to unify the laws, weights and measures, currency and writing, abolished the old money of the six States in the late Warring States period, and improved on the basis of the Qin half and two coins of the Warring States period. The round and square holes of the Qin half and two coins were used throughout the country, ending the chaotic state of the currencies of different shapes and weights in ancient China. Qin Banliang is the first national unified currency in China, its appearance marks the initial maturity of ancient Chinese coins, and is a milestone in the development of Chinese money.
