Rescue missions are intense situations that can get too dangerous for direct human approach, requiring the collection of critical information to save lives. This is where robots come to the rescue; design, develop and build a fully modular three-part Arduino robot car, consisting of the chassis (motor and wheels/tracks/leg), control system and electronics (sensors) and power pack. The assembled solution must fit within a cylinder, 250mm in diameter and 250 mm high, being operable from a laptop via USB cable, avoiding wireless signal interference; whilst remaining cost effective at $120 AUD or less to produce/replace if the solution is damaged or lost. The solution must traverse an obstacle-filled maze, detecting its distance from obstructions, and weigh less than a kilogram in case the surface it travels on is prone to collapsing. The solution must be easily assembled on site, allowing for safer and efficient rescue operations.
