The Twelve Talismans are a powerful set of magical charms represented by the animals of the Chinese zodiac. Each talisman possesses its own respective power which can be harnessed at the will of its user. They were originally created when Lo Pei cast a chi spell to defeat Shendu by imprisoning him in stone whilst simultaneously extracting each of his magical powers into the form of twelve talismans. Intending to keep Shendu from ever returning to power, Lo Pei proceeded to scatter the talismans to the four corners of the globe.-wiki
