Description: This is an eye-catching sample of acicular crystals of Pyrolusite, in diverging, radiating sprays on ?limonite matrix. It is also strikingly beautiful due to the high brilliant metallic luster, chatoyancy, and a battleship gray color.
Pyrolusite is the most common manganese mineral. It is also a component of the production of steel, and was once used for the manufacture of batteries. Pyrolusite is known for its finely fibrous acicular crystal habits.
