A herbaceous plant belonging to the cruciferous family. Its size is 10 to 20 cm. There are many different kinds of roots and they come in a variety of colors. Originally known as the Mediterranean coast, it is said to have been introduced to China through the Silk Road. With the introduction of Buddhism, Korea began to be cultivated during the Three Kingdoms era and was treated as an important vegetable during the Goryeo Dynasty.
