More model informationReanascreena is one of the best preserved among the group of large multiple stone circles around the Rosscarbery area of West Cork, a group that includes the famous circles of Drombeg and Bohonagh.
Reanscreena is unusual in that it features an encircling ditch and bank, during excavations in 1960 it was discovered that the sides of the bank had been repaired in antiquity. This demonstrates that the circle had been used regularly. Carbon dating from under the bank and a cremation within the circle produced dates of 1214-998 and 1004-844 cal B.C respectively.
