Elegantly dressed and seated on an ornate stool, a young woman receives perfumed oil from a youth on one side and an elaborate fillet from Eros, the winged son of Aphrodite, on the other. The elaborate ornament and free use of added white and yellow are typical of the Baltimore Painter, one of the most prominent vase-painters active in Apulia in the late fourth century.
