A high-fidelity version of the HL1 SPAS-12 shotgun based around the concept of making the infamous “Fire Both Barrels” thing make sense. The idea was to imagine it having a similar mechanism to the HKG11 or AN-94, with the double shot being an extremely fast 2 round burst.

“Lore” for the shotgun: The Black Mesa HyperBurst Assault Shotgun 12 Gauge, or HBAS-12 was an automatic shotgun based on the SPAS-12. Black Mesa would manufacture it along with standard pattern SPAS-12 shotguns under license starting in 1986. The HBAS-12 featured a 2-round hyperburst, which was designed to deal with some of the more resilient fauna Black Mesa personel would encounter in the Xen border world. The HBAS-12 was widely adopted by Black Mesa security personel, as well as more limited distribution throughout the USMC Hazardous Environment Combat Unit. Later, a variant of the HBAS-12 would be adopted during the Combine’s occupation of Earth.
