More model informationA unos 4m de altura, en la torre central del mercado de abastos de Santiago de Compostela, se halla un relieve en el que han sido representandos dos ángeles sujetando una cruz (una versión esquematizada de la cruz de Santiago). Poca gente que circula día a día en el mercado, entre una sinfonía de olores, ruidos y colores de los puestos repletos de productos locales, conoce cuándo se hizo, el motivo e historia detrás de él. El relieve fue realizado en 1941, cuando comenzó la construcción del nuevo mercado por la dictadura franquista, siendo derruido el anterior mercado en 1937. El mercado, realizado en granito, no desentona con las construcciones santiaguesas, salvo por su plano y organización racionalista. El relieve, por sus líneas rectas y laconismo, parecía mostrar influencia de la estética futurista en pleno auge en el fascismo italiano con Marinetti. Sin embargo, parace que guarda un mayor parecido al estilo Art Déco; visible en la figura del ángel en el monumento a Elcano en Guetaria, levantada en 1924.
