Trina was a spitfire. Her laugh was infectious and loud. An amazing elementary school teacher, she was loved by her students. If you knew Trina and her husband Boomer, their love story was one for the ages, beginning when Boomer’s family moved to Trina’s street when they were kids. Even though she may have lost her battle with cancer, she won in life, which is evident in her amazing family, budding students and dear friends. Her loss has left a huge hole in the fabric of our community, and certainly in the lives of her family.
This piece for the Bodice Project is in honor of Trina. It includes a hand built terracotta bust form that was inspired by historical ceramic and stone bust forms that were traditionally created to commemorate significant/beloved individuals. Draped over the bust is the focus of the piece, a pink warrior necklace made from commonplace materials. I think she would approve.
