Named the Engadine dolomite for Engadine, Mackinac Co., northern MI. Consists of very massive, hard, very crystalline dolomite, distinctly bluish or mottled and streaked with blue. Also characterized by numerous drusy cavities more or less completely filled with crystal of dolomite or pearl spar. Thickness is 54 to 95 feet. Overlies Manistique series. The Engadine is of Silurian age.
