More model informationAcross the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme, around 40 Roman kilns have been excavated in total. Both of these models are of 2nd century Roman pottery kilns uncovered in the northern part of a site west of Brampton in Cambridgeshire. In this area of the site around 10 pottery kilns have been uncovered, positioned within a Roman enclosure - it was clearly an industrial area. All of the kilns are the standard “figure-of-eight” shape with a flue at one end and a firing chamber for pots at the other- many also had linings and kiln furniture inside them.
