Organic residue analysis performed in association with the Brandeis Archaeochemistry Research in the Eastern Mediterranean (ARCHEM) Project via gas chromatograph-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) in 2013 revealed traces of storax, a rare resin from Roman Syria and Asia Minor used in the production of perfume.
