I wanted to place this rooster in the paths connecting the U of A building beside their big windows to reflect the light coming into the hall and bounce off in all directions. I chose this location because this spot is the starting point or link towards many students’ start of class. I thought the rooster made sense in how it is perceived and symbolized. When we picture a rooster’s task, we can imagine them crowing in the morning before waking everyone up, being the sign for everyone to be up and diligent. The rooster symbolizes vigilance, hope and a new day. These are some characteristics that I can connect with education at the university. The mirrored rooster is to purposefully shine more light into the hall to be a quiet act of the rooster to help students become more alert for their next class.
