The 193’ wooden side wheeler Rothesay was launched in 1868. She served in various places on the St Lawrence and Lake Ontario and carried passengers and freight throughout her career. On Sept. 12, 1889 The Rothesay was in a collision with the Tug Myra after which she was beached and left to deteriorate near her current location. The Rothesay was rediscovered in 1964 by the Underwater Society of Ottawa and remains a very popular dive site.
