Roughting Linn is a large dome shaped quarried outcrop measuring 21m x 15m x 3.5m. It was first noted by prominent archaeologist Canon William Greenwell in the mid 19th C and has since become one of the most visited rock art sites in England. Motifs consist of various cups, rings, penannular and groove designs scattered about the surface. The rock has been recorded by Stan Beckensall, who made rubbings of the motifs.
