“Sandtone stele, known as a Sati (or Suttee) stone, memorials to Indian windows found all over India. Acquired by Charles Stuart at Bhilsa and later in the India Museum, from where it passed to the British Museum.”
*I processed the photos and found I had a suprising amount of the surrounding from the Enlightenment Gallery so thought I’d upload this one as a bit of a scene.
The bookcase behind the stele is lined with bookspines that have nothing on them, that’s because it’s one of several secret doors in the British Museum!*
