More model informationA resin cast from the mold of calcareous marine concretion that formed around a wrought iron spike from the wreck of the Spanish galleon Santa Clara, sunk in 1564. The Spike is 15.5 centimteres (6.1 inches) long, and it has a head of approximately 2.3 ceentimeters diameter. The hand-forged fastener was almost certainly used in the construction of the ship, holding together wooden componenets of the hull.
