More model information

The Portonaccio sarcophagus is a Roman sarcophagus found in 1931 in via delle Cave di Pietralata, next to Portonaccio, a district in Rome. It is actually located in the Museo Nazionale Romano (Palazzo Massimo alle Terme).

It dates in 180AD, during the reign of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, and it shows a battle between Romans and barbarians. You can see the figure of the official Aulus Iulius Pompilius at the centre of the scene. He was the Roman commander of the cavalry under the orders of Marcus Aurelius in the Marcomannic Wars (166AD - 180AD). The sarcophagus celebrates the bravery of that commander, who died in a battle against the Marcomanni.

This is the 3d model of the Portonaccio sarcophagus I made from Egiptologo91’s pictures. Here you can see the original model, too: https://sketchfab.com/models/904c0af8aed64987a103575019b5d7a6
